LONDON, ON, CANADA, Jan. 25, 2023 / — This site explains the history of black powder and describes that when all the ingredients have been mixed in the right amount and proportions, it ignites quickly . the site teaches how after the explosion it produced gaseous and solid by-products when ignited, the latter being generated in a higher volume, which could later be seen as whitish smoke. This article describes the original method of making black powder using a mortar and pestle to grind the ingredients into a powder form. It also tells the story of water-powered wooden stamp mills which were later used to grind materials, and in the 19th century metal crushing machines replaced wooden stamp mills. One of the most interesting sections describes that in the 13th century, the Mongols managed to expand their empire across Asia through their use of gunpowder.

The site discusses the history of the Mongols, “While expanding their empire, they also spread the secrets of gunpowder. It was through the success of the Mongols that the use of black powder became known to many civilizations old.”

The site points out that one of the most important transmissions of gunpowder was to the Muslim world in the Middle East. Three empires leaned into the new technology and became known as the Gunpowder Empires.

A few words about the author. Glenn Wilcott, the author of the site, began his career as a civil engineer working on international projects. After spending time in the military, he began studying and researching gunpowder thirty years ago after joining the military. He learned that black powder was the first explosive used to propel charges in firearms and was made from three key ingredients; potassium nitrate, sulfur and charcoal.
