EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – In its drive to continue to be a leader in science, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is partnering with a leading healthcare provider.

As it seeks to fund the construction of a new science and health sciences building, UWEC said the Mayo Clinic Health System is contributing financially to the project.

These two organizations have worked together for some time, but this investment is aimed at creating even more progress in healthcare.

“Real science is academically great when it’s isolated, but innovation happens by bringing chemists, biologists, engineers, nurses together to solve real problems,” said Chancellor James Schmidt of UW-Eau Claire. “That’s why the Mayo Clinic is involved in this case. That’s why they’re paying for 10,000 square feet of this science building.

In this upcoming biennial state budget, UW-Eau Claire hopes lawmakers will commit more than $230 million to the project.
