Along with the launch of the new M2 Mac mini, Apple dropped the Intel version, meaning only the Mac Pro remains available without Apple Silicon.

That leaves the 2019 Mac Pro as the only Mac that can be purchased with an Intel processor. Currently, this Mac Pro has no Apple Silicon options.

This means that this Mac Pro is also the last machine capable of running Boot Camp and therefore installing Microsoft Windows.

The latest Intel-based Mac mini remains listed on Apple’s comparison page, but only with technical details. There is no longer an option to order it, aside from Apple’s refurbished hardware page.

Apple adds power, cuts costs

This last Intel Mac mini was a six-core, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, i5. It costs from $1,099.

As of today, the most affordable version of the Mac mini is the base M2 model with an 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU. It comes with 256 GB of storage,

This version sells for $599, which is exactly $500 less.
